Our Virtual 1:1 Youth Mentoring sessions need Mentors to serve as well-adjusted coaches and role models for young people aged 14-17. Support, stability, and encouragement create lasting effects on a young person’s life.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Be consistent, dependable, and positive
- Involve your mentee in decisions and discussions
- Listen to and respect your mentee’s thoughts
- Be prepared for issues that may arise and ensure the safety of your mentee during sessions
- Commit at least 1 hour per fortnight, for at least 6 months
- Use available resources, including the support and guidance of the NGA staff
- A commitment to the needs of young people
- Strong listening and conversational skills
- Trustworthiness, openness, and reliability
- Respect for the values and beliefs of others
- 2 personal references
- Aged 18 or over
- Access to a computer, tablet, or smartphone and a good internet connection
Preferred but not essential:
- Previous experience working as a Mentor
- Experience working with Zoom
This role is subject to reference and DBS checks. Due to changes of current COVID-19 restrictions, DBS document verification and inductions may be carried out electronically

- Full induction into NGA work and our values
- Mandatory Safeguarding, Data Protection & Coaching training
- Supervision and support from the Project Coordinator and NGA’s team.
